Checking out campers

Today I went with my Dad to Vos Trailers in Stittsville, Ontario, to check up on the work they are supposed to be doing on my camper. Yes, I said my camper. It is a fairly roomy trailer camper that my parents are giving me to set up as a “home away from home” for myself (did I mention that I am on vacation?)

While I knew some repairs needed to be done it turns out the camper is really not in great shape. Snow accumlation in the winter, combined with some water seepage in the ceiling, have led to part of the roof being depressed inwards. This puts pressure on the side walls, and is very difficult to fix. Since the camper is quite old already it might not be worth fixing, and if it can’t be fixed then no “home away from home”. I’ll wait for their final estimate, and then make my decision, but it doesn’t look good. *sigh*

I can still dream, though. While I was at the dealership I took a look at a “5th wheel” camper that can only be described as a “mansion on wheels”. Incredible! The bedroom has a bed bigger than mine now, and it comes complete with shower, large kitchen area, dining table area AND living room area, and even a screened-in patio! All yours for the low low price of $62,000. Like I said, in my dreams.
